With hope in the New Year

Trey,Laura Amanda and I spent Christmas with Marvin in Augusta. With the help of the speaker phone we celebrated with my nephew Sandy and his wife Maryanne. They kept us laughting as Sandy sang off-key caroles and did impersonations. We traded a few gifts and were thankful for the best gift-that Marvin was with us- and got him to eat more than he had in weeks. Today he is still getting better and who knows...he may come home in a few weeks. We can't begin to tell you how much you have meant to us this season of Christ's birth. The calls, the hugs in church and the cards and cookies all are evidence of your love and support for Marvin and he is beginning to feel that it is possible to get back some of himself. He has felt so lost and tired with the constant nausea, life threatening complications, distance from home and loved ones. To believe that he can overcome the setbacks is quite a step. I have no word on when he can get off antibiotics and feeding tubes but if the nausea stays calm he can hope.
Christmas has been so different for us but the love of family and friends has made the message strong..Christmas is about that love and sharing of our lives and hope with others.
May God be with you in the New Year,
Cathie

Believe in the Christmas miracle

Marvin is off the vent and back in his room. He stopped breathing Wednesday night while talking to one of the wonderful nurses. They went into immediate action and had him breathing again and in the critical care unit in no time. He is now back in his room in the SCI unit and wondering what happened to three days. Our God is a faithful God and must feel that Marvin still has more to do on this earth. We are grateful for the many prayers that were sent on Marvin's behalf. Christmas can be a time of miracles and we believe that one has been given to Marvin.
Blessed be the name of the Lord

MARVIN IS MUCH WORSE

CATHIE JUST CALLED AND SAID THAT THEY HAVE HAD TO PUT MARVIN IN THE ICU AS HE HAD A SPELL LAST EVENING, DECEMBER 13. HE HAD TROUBLE BREATHING AND HAD TO BE PUT ON A POSITIVE PRESSURE OXYGEN MACHINE. PLEASE PUT MARVIN IN YOUR PRAYERS AND LET US HOPE THAT THIS IS JUST A TEMPORARY SETBACK. CURRENTLY HE IS NOT CONSCIOUS AND IS RESTING. CATHIE IS LEAVING FOR AUGUSTA THIS MORNING AND ASKED THAT I POST THIS ON THE BLOG.

Hallelulia..The nausea is better

The prayers, cards and concerns continue to be very much appreciated. Occasionally I have setbacks and God reminds me how bad things could be. These problems often resolve with prayer and much of the time my attitude is one of gratitude. I hope to be home by Christmas if I can get some physical therapy and all these IVs removed. Have gained back 15 lbs and look forward to Christmas food. It will indeed be a season of rejoicing to be home with family and friends.
My God Bless you and keep you safe
Marvin
