Wed. night with Ed

Ed Beardsley came down to visit from Columbia today. He spent a few hours reading to Marvin about WW2 battles and plane gun fights. He has also spent time doing muscle strengthening exercises with Marvin and he was amazed at the movement Marvin had gotten back. He amazes us all as he improves a little bit each day. We all hope that soon he can stand with the walker. It is still very difficult for him to get to a standing position but he tries with our help to get more leg strength.
Marka Roger's dance group performed last Sunday and Marka danced a very special number dedicated to Marvin. He was so touched that I thought I saw tears. It was just wonderful to see her dance and Trey was able to video the performance for her.
We have had so many visitors who have cheered Marvin and all of us. We feel the support of prayer and it keeps us going.
Some wonderful friends at Harbor View Presbyterian contributed to buy Marvin a Ipod nano! we arn't sure how to use it but Trey is going to help.
Thank you for reading and keeping up with us.
Love

TRIP TO AUGUSTA VA JANUARY 10,2006

This past Monday I drove down from Anderson to Charleston in my Pick Up Truck to take Marvin back to the Veteran's Hospital in Augusta. We loaded the electric chair in the back of the truck with the help of Trey and left at 6am for Augusta. It was a long day but Marvin tolerated the trip well and had a very positive report from the professionals at the hospital. They measured all sorts of movement parameters and in about all he was about twice as strong as he was when he left for home at thanksgiving. He had also put on 12 pounds and his color was so improved that the staff hardly recognized him. The only disapointment was that he needs to improve on pushing his arm out to be able to use the arm mounted joy stick. I feel that will come soon and he will be able to free himself of the chin joystick. All this was possible because fo the Power of Prayer, the wonderful food he had to eat while at home, and the many friends and neighbors who gave him encouragement and support. Cathie and the Children have also put in untold hours of care to keep Marvin doing this well.
We returned to Charleston Tuesday evening around 9:30pm and it was close to midnight before we all got to bed. A really long but productive day. Im back in Anderson now but thought would post a couple of pictures we took at the VA and when we returned home.
