Marvin goes swimming

We are able to have pool therapy thru the VA and with the help of a Shepherd trained therapist, Marvin is standing on his own(with a life vest) and he climbed up one step. He does so much better in water without gravity so we know many nerve connections are still there but very weak from disuse. His breathing is better and he sounds like the old Marvin in voice. We have a friend working in pain management who thinks she can help him get more movement back and we are excitedly waiting for next Thursday to see the Dr. @ this clinic. Scott Johnson and Marvin are in the back yard today. Marvin is giving advice and Scott has mowed, cleared and put down pinestraw on the yard. What a great exchange!! We have had calls from friends of many years past that have brought such smiles to Marvin. There are some great memories being shared again as friends can do. God continues to give us blessings in healing, friends, and even finances. Got a refund from the hospital last week! You know that is rare and much appreciated. We have a wonderful lady helping with Marvin who many met at his 65th. She is such a gift.
Thank you keeping us in your prayers and calls. Our God is Great,
Cathie

MARVIN'S STOMACH TUBE IS GONE

Spoke to Marvin and Cathie yesterday and he is still doing much better. No Neausea since the cream started working. In fact the physicians at the VA were shocked at the improvment and kept saying that they could not see how he had made such a rapid turn around. Anyway his condition was so improved that they removed the stomach tube. This will make Marvin feel even better. The Doctors may be at a loss to explain the change but we know that the Power of Prayer is more powerful than anything else. Let us now renew our prayers that Marvin continues to improve and regain his strength and muscle control. P.S. Cathie is also much better as she mirrows Marvin's progress. Bill Moore

MARVIN IS BETTER

Spoke with Marvin and Kathie this evening and have some great news to pass along. Marvin has finally found a concoction that has overcome his nausea. He releated to me that he has not had an episode for the past five days thanks to a cream that you apply to the pulse points topically. Now with our prayers we can only hope that marvin can build up his strength enough to fully benefit from rehabilitation. We can only thank the many people who went above and beyond to make this possible. Marvin starts hydrothearpy again next week. Lets hope the miracle cream does not wash off. Bill Moore

Home and doing well

To all who have been praying with us...Thank you. I am getting out some with Cathie. I have a trainer to help with my therapy and I am gradually getting stronger. It is so nice to stare at my own ceiling and not the hospital's when I wake. I continue to be supported by friends who visit and it means so much to my recovery. Thank you to all who have stayed with me when Cathie has a meeting or errand. The new bathroom is coming along again...had to rip out quite a bit that wasn't done correctly. Hopefully I will be able to use it in the next few weeks.
Mandy is in New Zealand until late May and Trey has just returned from 3 weeks in Illinois. I am working hard to get back some use of my arms to drive my chair and help Cathie with my care. I am still amazed at the people who have sent food and cards and hug me when they see me. A Citadel classmate sent me a dvd called Joni's Story about a quad who has learned to paint without hands and gives messages of hope to so many. It was such an inspiration.
Bless you all
Marvin

Home@Last, Home@Last Thank God

With apologies to M.L. King we have the Big Dog home. I took him by a friend's beauty school for a cut and pedicure and then home on Friday. Great friends from the church came by to help us get in and unpack the boxes of supplies!! We have had two nights now @ home and Marvin has slept fairly well with only a few glitches. He is on more meds than I ever imagined but we hope to pare them down abit. I gave him too much blood pressure med this morn and he has been unable to get up because of the low pressure. I guess that is one way to learn. He is getting back some of his humor and spirit that had been so low these past hospitalized months. Friends are calling or coming by for a visit so he is aware that he was missed. As he says"It is just great to be home .Enough is enough!"
Thank you for your faithfulness in prayer and support. We can not thank you enough and hope to pass on to another some of the same caring that has been given us.
Praises be to God

A Happier Valentine's Day

I talked w/ Marvin tonight and his voice was much clearer and he sounded upbeat. I will see him tomorrow and start packing his room for the return to Charleston on friday. I hope we can get home before too late so that some of you can be here to greet him. He is so thin and frail but God willing, he can gain strength and weight with time. This has been more difficult than I ever thought it would be and I thank God for all of you who have been beside us in this journey. I knew I was praying for a miracle when I asked God to save him. I just didn't know how big it would have to be. God is in the small things and also in the BIG.
Blessings
Cathie
