Long time no hear

To anyone out there who still checks this blog I an sorry to have been so remiss in writing. Marvin's health takes up so much of my time that I am often a week or more behind in just my e-mail. He has been improving as well as had some setbacks. He was admitted to ICU to study his breathing and been diagnosed with chronic respiratory failure. He has a bi/pap machine and is now on oxygen at night. For awhile he was standing with someone on either side (to hold on to/not held up by) for nearly 3 minutes. We have not had that great success in two weeks but I have been told it will go like that at times. We use the weights on pulleys for arm and leg strength and the OT therapist nearly had him holding a spoon before her visits ran out. We have applied for more therapy and God has heard our prayers. Marvin will be in Columbia SC for a few weeks at the VOC REHAb hosp/clinic for whatever therapy they can offer to get him back to work!! He saw the pool and was excited. This facility hasn't had many full quads but since a doctor goes wherever Marvin goes I feel that he will direct them in his care at the facility. He comes home each Friday and goes back each Sunday for one month.
Believe it or not we still don't have the bathroom done down stairs!! I feel that when this is finished life will be so much easier. The company is doing it for as little as poss. but I wish the pace was faster.
Our church has set up a volunteer group of women who come over twice a week to help with therapy. what a blessing they are for us. We still hear from patients that they miss him and what a great doc he was. The ego is pretty battered here so those words mean more than they may know.
He feel asleep at 8 tonight and has already had bad dreams. We have gotten news from the VA that they have found that he was given a combat citation for some of the rought times in Viet Nam. That affirms some of the stuff he has had to struggle with. The VA has been great with Marvin's care. We are fortunate there. God still sends wonderful people into our lives with books and prayers and even some healing energy.
Well this is enought for a while as I doubt anyone still reads this. Please keep lifting us up. The road is long and sometimes frightening. You are the lamps in the dark.

Great Post Cathy, It really helped me catch up on what Marvin and you have been devoting your efforts to. I sure hope that Marvin will get good care at the VA in Columbia. What weeks will he be there. Just remember that both of you are still on the prayer lists at my church in Anderson and I give regular updates to my River Street Baptist Church in Anderson.

Believe it or not..there is someone who sill looks forward to reading your blogs!! This is the way that I can keep up with Marvin..and you, Cathy..as I am a friend on the outside..one not in your inner circle of friends, but one of those who is a member at HVPC and continues to hold you both up in prayer. I am glad to hear that Marvin will be getting more therapy at the VA..and that he has(and you, ) received justification for all those times when you didn't know what was going on or why(combat-PTSD)..
Take care and know that God and all those around you, LOVE YOU BOTH!!
